Machinists ratify first agreement with Tékalia Aéronautik

TekaliaMembers of IAM Local Lodge 712 have ratified their first collective agreement with Tékalia Aéronautik.

“Having union recognition and a first collective agreement is in itself a very important step forward in a newly-unionized workplace,” explain IAM District Lodge 11 Business Representative Luc Morasse. “With this contract, the workers have built a solid foundation on which to build in the future.”

Along with wage increases the two-year agreement also provides:

  • Grievance and arbitration processes
  • Seniority provisions
  • Recall process following layoffs
  • Work classifications
  • Improved vacation periods
  • Bereavement leave
  • Allocation of public holidays adjusted to cover full length of 10 and 12 hour shifts

“In short, we can say that this is an excellent first agreement,” said IAM District Lodge 11 Directing Business Representative Pierre Grenier. “The bargaining committee did a remarkable job. They’re more than satisfied with the progress they have achieved for all 85 workers at Tékalia Aéronautik.” Tékalia Aéronautik provides surface treatment and finishes for the aeronautical industry.
